Three bikes. Different possibilities.
See how their gears line up, then compare
the details that make a difference.
01 / THE GEARS, SIDE BY SIDE
Every gear. One scale.
Higher = more wheel turns per pedal turn
How to read this scale
A ratio is front teeth divided by rear teeth. At 1.00, one pedal revolution turns the rear wheel once. All markers share a linear scale; label leaders point to their exact position. Coincident combinations share a marker. Every combination is shown, including cross-chained combinations you would usually avoid on a 2× drivetrain. This is not a recommended shifting sequence. Gear ratio alone does not determine climbing effort or top speed: tyre circumference, total mass, cadence, power and terrain also matter.
